Mariposa Piece Makers
March 2019

I’m hoping you all make it through our snowy and rainy days and are getting tons of quilting done! Now we have to get through a muddy month and then SPRING!!! Our next meeting will be Saturday, March 9th at St. Joseph’s Church in the lower hall at 9:30 a.m.
We are pretty much repeating our February meeting plans. Marianne will be presenting how to do curved piecing. We will have plenty of time at this meeting for you to try it out if you so desire.  You should bring two fat quarters of contrasting fabric, a sharp rotary cutter (18mm or 45mm), sharp scissors, pins, fabric marker (like a frixion pen), and small cutting mat (although we will have a few mats available). If you want, you can bring your sewing machine and actually sew up one or two blocks. Or you can follow the tutorial and take them home ready to sew. Or you can just watch and learn. Again, we are leaving lots of time for this tutorial. If time permits, I will also show you a few easy patterns for disappearing 4 patches, nine patches, and windmills.
I will present our next Block of the Month which will be Wandering Windmill. Please bring your blocks from January and February to display which were called Brother John and Tangled Threads. And, of course, we will enjoy Sew and Tell and snacks brought by Janet.
Also, please bring any pillowcases you have ready and we will send them to the We Care organization for the displaced students from the Camp Fire.
At this meeting, we will be collecting any fabric you’d like to donate from your stash so that we can put together kits to make charity quilts (throw quilts for Mariposa Pines rest home and baby quilts for Helping Hands). Helen has done a fabulous job asking for donations from some fabric companies and has already received some but if you have extra fabric you’d like to clear out, we could use it to coordinate it all. This can be quarter yard pieces or precuts.
There is still time to sign up for the Fan Club quilt class by Lori Nelson. Please bring the $30 fee to the next meeting. The class is March 30th from 9:30 – 3:30. I will have supply lists available on Saturday. Or you can email me if you’re interested.
In summary, you can bring 4 things to this meeting:
1.     Supplies to do curved piecing
2.     You finished Blocks of the Month, Brother John and Tangled Threads
3.     Finished pillowcases
4.     Fabric from your stash to donate to make charity quilts
