May 2019

Happy May Day!        Happy Mother’s Day!!        Happy Spring!!!

Our next meeting will be May 11th at St. Joseph’s Church in the lower hall at 9:30 a.m.  This meeting will focus on Free Motion Quilting. Kim Tucker will give an overview and then you will be able to try it out for yourself.  If you’ve been afraid to try or curious, this is the meeting for you.  If you’ve already used free motion quilting, come try out some new designs.  We will have sewing machines there for you to use or better yet, bring your own sewing machine. You need to be able drop the feed dogs on your machine, and you need a free motion foot which most machines provide.  It will help to bring quilting gloves if you have them. If none of this makes sense to you, bring your machine anyway, and we will help you figure it out.

Also, we have some more charity sewing kits available and extra fabric you may take. We will enjoy our Sew and Tell time, snacks brought by Maggie and Diane A. and a Block of the Month presentation by Lehua. Please bring your last Block of the Month to share which was Gridiron Glory.

On another note, we are taking reservations and $25.00 deposits for our bus trip to Santa Clara to thePacific International Quilt Festival on Saturday, October 19th. The total cost of the bus and a ticket is $65.00. We will attend all day and stop for dinner on the way home. We are just about to open up the bus seats to the Sierra Mountain Quilters so get your deposit in at this meeting or send it to Charlotte Hickman at PO Box 1933, Mariposa CA 95338.

PS- Mary Ripma has a Janome Horizon and a sewing table for sale at a fabulous price. Email or call me, and I’ll pass on her number.
